After many auditions choir director Andre Bijleveld has selected 20 of the best talented Dutch vocalists and soloists to become members of the brand new black gospel choir Gospel Boulevard. The ‘Crème de la Crème’ has been brought together to let a dream come true and to share a common vision. The ultimate goal of the initiators of Gospel Boulevard, choir director Andre Bijleveld and manager/concert organizer Gerrit aan ‘t Goor is to bring the choir in front of secular audiences.

“Black gospel music is the music from the church that has been accepted outside the church as well because of its uniqueness and cultural heritage. Gospel Boulevard wants to serve the church and wants to bring the message of the gospel to the streets!!”

Gospel Boulevard sings with passion and gives new breath to well known Gospel songs such like: Shackles (Praise You) from Mary Mary, ‘So strong’ from Labi Siffre, ‘My Life is in your hands’ from Kirk Franklin and ‘Gonna be a lovely Day’ from Bill Withers and Kirk Franklin.

With several performances at the Flevo Festival, Winter Wonder Rock and the Catholic Youth day they took the crowd by storm. They have shared the stage with well known artist as the Newsboys, Delirious? and Tait. Very unique was the theatre tour of Gospel Boulevard in 2005. Gospel Boulevard visited theatres all over the country and the audience went wild! The main business of Gospel Boulevard is performances in the secular market during business parties. They have performed for Shell, the Dutch Government and in several television programs.

Gospel Boulevard is the surprise of the last years and has got it all: Emotion, rhythm, energy, enthusiasm, faith, movement, strong harmonies and most importantly of all: A strong sense of teamspirit. In short, singing one’s lungs and heart out and sharing from one’s very soul!

About choir conductor and Hammond B3 player Andre Bijleveld:
For many years he and his formal band Thesis has played with countless artists when they visited Holland. The list includes names like: Geoff Moore, Nicole C. Mullen, Larry Norman, Kenny Marks, Julie Miller, Susan Ashton, Steve Camp etc.
